hotfolder password issue

Hi,

I have created hotfolders as a domain user (with admin rights on mediabin) on the mediabin server. My domain password got changed and when I login to the hotfolder editor i do not see the hotfolders i configured earlier. On checking the HotFoldersConfig.xml, I found that the it puts in an encrypted password in the connection string. I added a new temporary hot folder to obtain the encrypted version of my current password, deleted the temp hot folder and replaced the old encrypted password with the new one.
I made it sure that I remove the empty HotFolderDefinition element.

I still dont find my old hotfolders being displayed in the hot folder editor and its now empty! I can find all my definitions intact in the HotFoldersConfig.xml. I use a deployment agent schedule on this hot folder and all the asset movements are failing with this error:

CopyFile: Connect: Error logging on to share \\mbserver\Deployment Agent Hot Folders. Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password. (80040000). (80040000)

Is there any other place that I need to change the passwords. I have changed it for all projects created by this user on deployment agent.

Can anyone help?

If you manually edit the HotFolderConfig xml file outside of the editor application, you will need to restart the MediaBin publication service to reload the changes.

That worked for hot folder editor. Thanks a lot. But the deployment agent schedules are still throwing the same error! I restarted the deployment agent service also. But that did not help.

Ok..there was yet another place (Targets) where i had to update the password. Works fine now.

Lesson learnt: Always use application accounts with no password expiry.
