Validating TextArea using validation-regex

Hi ,

I am using TS 6.5.. i am trying to validate 'Textarea' using validate-regex="" facility.. But its not working with Textarea ..

Here i am trying to validate against Leading Spaces in Text/TextArea.

But the same is working here for simple Text Item..

i am using like below

****** validation-regex="[^ ]+" ******

Try using with \s which matches for a whitespace character.

****** validation-regex="[^\s]+" ******

Afraid to say NO, you are defining your validation regex for the item; not for the text or textarea.

Try out:
item name="name"
text required="t" maxlength="100" size="60" validation-regex="[^ ]+"/
/item

item name="description"
textarea required="t" row="3" cols="60" validation-regex="[^\s]+"/
/item

Are you using VF with your Textarea??

You want to just remove the space if it is the first character added or anything else?

if so try validation-regex="^[\s]"

Its just a simple TextArea .. not an VF element..

I dont want content author to just enter " " spaces..
Ex: " ", or " "...

i.e., I should have atleast something enetered in Textarea as value.

Because if i just Enter " " (blank charcaters) TS accepts it as some String"

And this causing some problem in my Deployment.

Suggest use formAPI for this onItemChange check if there is any character in the textarea..

also try [[^\s]A-Za-z0-9] not sure if can use double angle brackets..
