Access to User login ID from jsps & connectors

I would like to access the current users login id to pass to an external application. The construct does provide the users full name, but what would provide the login id? I have tried various possibilities such as ${logonName}, but to no avail!
Help much appreciated.

I don't have a solid answer, but maybe you can try to check on the session cookies which may contains the login ID.
