triggering customized script for copy command in TS6.5

Hi,
I want to execute customized script whenever I copy any file of directory within workrea.
I have done following entry in iwlocal.cfg file:
iwcp sbardeo copyTrigger.ipl
and restarted the local setting...

when i run iwcp command it is not triggering the event to execute above script. Is there anyhting wrong with my actions.
Please help!

"iwcp" is what wrong with your action. You can configure only event triggers in iwlocal, not just any program. You would have to find the
appropriate trigger from iwat... family that catches an event fired by iwcp execution. Chances are, "iwatupdate" and/or "iwatlock" will do the trick.
Beware that no matter what trigger you use you will have to check for "false positives". For example, iwatlock will fire for various reasons, not only Copy...

Yes, it is possible that you will have to register something extra although I doubt it.
What you can do is to set non-specific "iwat" and see what happens when you use Copy. Note that
iwat differs from other triggers in a sense that event information is passed to your
script as multiple parameters. So, something like the following should allow you to investigate
what to use on Copy: iwat ".+" YourSnooper.ipl.
Perhaps you would be able to eventually use iwat itself, only with proper event regex instead of ".+"

you could also override the copy menu item. within ui_custom.xml, to call one of your own JSP pages, which accepts target location, and then when that form has been submitted, do whatever you want.

Perhaps, event trigger however covers much more than GUI caused events. An event can be triggered by TS GUI, TS/OS Commands,
TS Workflows and so on

Now from TS documents what I got is there are two ways for doing this one is: explicitly running following command:

/data/software/iw/iw-home/iw-perl/bin/iwperl /data/software/iw/iw-home/bin/iwatunlock.ipl /data/software/iw/iw-home/local/applyExtendAttribute.pl
and another is making entry in iwlocal.cfg file as follows

Start with baby steps.

Reconsider setting root. It may work, depending on how you installed / run TS Servers. Note however that whatever TS process runs this magic, it has it's own effective UID. Sure, it can spawn other calls impersonating requested users, impersonate root however may (or may not) be asking too much.

Second, make sure that whatever user you do set, can cd to reqiured directories and has script execution credentials. chmod 751 (or whtever you prefer) if not. When all is said and done, login as that user and execute an exact command ypu placed in local, see if it worked

Third, make sure that proper perl shebang is set in the script. Finally, this sort of thing is hard to debug. Set your own verbose mode flag in the script and log a lot. Originally, do not bother with functionality. Just make sure the thing has been executed

Perhaps I was not very clear or you simply misunderstood. Yes, it can be done by iwlocal entry, etc...

Every single step I mentioned in my previous post (Baby steps 1,2,3...) is a step to achieve exactly that. For example: "Step1 - reconsider root..." - in the sample you provided you used UID root in iwlocal entry, "Step 2" is just one-time sanity check and so on
