How can one activate particular tasks in a workflow? I need to activate some defined tasks in the workflow through command line or through cgi script.

The only way to activate them is to transition the workflow up until those tasks become active. You can not activate random tasks in a workflow.

You cannot arbitrarilly activate a task in a workflow. A task in a workflow can only become activated if it's successor(s) have transitioned to it. Thus you need the taskid of the successor(s) and with that you can use CLTs like iwcallback and/or iwtaskselect or by utlizing methods in the various modules

Hoping you have all the required parameters before activating any particular task. You can make a workflow along with task variables and perl conditional loops.
