I think you want to rephrase your question.

A DCR is a specific instance of a DCT usage. Thus there are often 10s and 100s DCRs to a single DCT. Saved with different content and different names. However I am not certain if that is what you are really looking for.

Assuming you have added a new field that is required and you need to regenerate the pages but you do not want to go through the effort of opening and saving all the DCRs.

Two possibilities, first (and likely easiest) is to put a default value in the TPL, so if that new field is undefined, then a default is used. Doesn't change the DCR, doesn't help with DD (though you could do something similar) and the default is 1 answer (unless you get complex)

The second is to write a perl script to open the DCRs, regex in a new field and save it. Have done that many times, but extensive testing is critical. If you change all DCRs and break something, you have broken a whole lot.

So I can answer your question correctly why do you want to create affectively multiple DCR/xml files from one DCR?

If I understand your issue correctly; you have some value in your dcr which once changed in one dcr has to be same in other dcr's as well.

IF you have not yet finalised the dct's then I would suggest create a dct with the values which are common and use this dcr to in all your templates which require these values.

If you already have the dcr's there and just need to update the values some how then on Save of your dcr run a callserver which will pickup this update and put it in all dcr's.

yeah, I am also trying to understand what is required. But cannot say for sure.

If one wants to create just multiple DCRs from the same data that they share, sometimes a simple script that would spit out dozens of DCRs and the stamp them with EAs would also do a trick....

But I would probbaly ask the original poster to clarify the problem...
