OnFileOpen IManExt event

I Have a simple vb component that should intercept all worksite documents as they are opened from within MS Word. I've created a sink to the OnFileOpen Com event within the IManExt library, but this event never seems to be raised. Can anyone help?

Here's a brief outline of the code


Private WithEvents ext As iManageExtensibility
Private Sub ext_OnFileOpen(ByVal objDocOpenDlg As Object)

    ' this event never seems to get raised...
    ' do things with objDocOpenDlg events...

End Sub

P.S.The BeforeDocumentOpen event does get fired, but I need a reference to the IManDocument as it is opened.

This event handler is raised when you select File|Open from the WorkSite Office Integrated app. when in Classic mode. That is, when you press File|Open or the open fldr icon button, in Classic mode, the WorkSite classic DocOpenDlg dialog is loaded, and this when the event is raised. If you have Enhanced Application Integration (EAI) mode, then you will not be able to catch this event as the DocOpenDlg object is not used -- the IManFileOpenCmd is invoked in EAI mode.

If you'd like to hook into the instance when the document is about to open, catch the DocumentBeforeOpen event instead.

It's a pitty, as I really needed to get hold of the IManDocument object, which is not available at the time BeforeDocumentOpen is raised.

Why not? You should be able to get a handle to the document object in the DocumentBeforeOpen event function, like so:

Private Sub objExtensibilitySink_DocumentBeforeOpen(ByVal FileName As String, Cancel As Boolean)
Dim objDocument As IManDocument
Set objDocument = objExtensibilitySink.GetDocumentFromPath(FileName)
MsgBox objDocument.Number
End Sub
