MediaBin - MS Documents and PDF
Aryan
Hello MediaBin_MTS,
I am having problems with excecuting Mediabin tasks on MS Office Documents and PDFs. The error is attached as an image to the post. Am I missing some thing? I have installed MediaBin Server, the windows client and the web client.
Also,
Though I set up the Metatagger correctly with MediaBin, it does not seem to generate keywords and summaries.
Also,
Do the keywords and summaries get added to the metadata.exp file generated by Deployment agent? Currently it does not seem to work.
The attached image shows the configuration.
Please advice.
Thanks,
Aryan.

Sorry, I'm not familiar with the Metatagger primitive. I believe Lyman wrote it so I'm sure he'll be able to provide advice for both of your issues.

On the PDF issue this appears to be a configuration problem. Part of the MediaBin installation is the addition of a print driver for generating PDF and MS Office previews. This is an external piece of software we bundle. Support should be able to help you as it may take a WebEx to diagnose what exactly the issue is. Basically when correct you should be able to list the printers available on your server and see an entry called "Metafile Printer".
On the Metatagger issue, the problem may be that the Metatagger primitive is not configured by default (as not everyone has it). There are a few options. One can manually add it to insertion or retrieval tasks, or if you want it to be a default part of every insertion, it can be spliced into the general "post-update" system task. Again in this case Support will be able to step you through the procedure (this is one of those cases where it really is not all that complicated but if something is done wrong things break in mysterious ways).
I am researching your ECM Connector post and will ask about DA. The summary, classification and keywords generated by the Metatagger primitive are no different from any other MediaBin metadata, I am just not positive which categories of metadata are stored in each case.
Cheers,
Lyman Hurd
