backup of library or workspace

I'm looking into backing up a library/workspace, may i know what is the best way to carry out a backup and can the backup process be automated?

In simple terms a library is a database so if you back up the WorkSite MP database for that library you are backing up that library. Take a look at your database engine for automating that backup.

Workspaces can be backed up by downloading a template of the workspace. With that said downloading a template can fail and requires the web application making it less likely to automate.

The other issue is that last I knew it wouldn't work as a backup option for Knowledge Spaces. When you create a template of a knowledge space it does not include any documents. My guess is that it doesn't get document objects from the workspace which is where documents reside in a knowledge space. They are first added to the workspace (knowledge space) and then linked to 0 or more categories.
