iwserver mount point not determined
marcussteiner
Hi all,
I've got this strange problem on TS 6.1 on Solaris 8. When I run:
(-d:/etc/init.d)% ./iw.server start
This is the output in iwserver.log.
any ideas?
cheers

Yikes -- you might want to call support on this one. I've had similar issues more than a few times in the past and it seems that the root cause is always something so obscure.

LOL. nice one :-)) that makes my day....
i'll give them a call.

Just for kicks, do a df -k
I have seen a process running in /iwmnt so it would nout unmount
You can try
umount -f /iwmnt
umount -f /.iwmnt
(do not know if you need both)

This certainly does not look good:
(-d:/)% umount -f /iwmnt
umount: warning: /iwmnt not in mnttab
umount: /iwmnt not mounted
(-d:/)% umount -f /.iwmnt
umount: warning: /.iwmnt not in mnttab

Probably need to restart the box. Any chance of that ?
I see you have ClearCase on this box. How long have both been on the server ?
One more thing to try:
/usr/ucb/ps -wuax | grep iwmnt
That runs the old UCB version of PS which has a wide option and will show if the process is in a directory. There is a process running in iwmnt preventing it from umounting.
I thought there should be an entry in the mntab file for iwmnt so that you can use umount.
You may want to view the /etc/init.d/iwserver file and copy the umount command they use but add the -f (force) flag.

I'll try to restart the box on monday and will torture the sys-admins with that.
(-d:/)% /usr/ucb/ps -wuax | grep iwmnt
root 14960 0.1 0.1 1000 728 pts/5 S 18:43:42 0:00 grep iwmnt
(-d:/)%
I will also check the clearcase stuff. thanks

I do not have my Soliris server available, run this for me:
grep umount /etc/init.d/iw.server
marcussteiner
(-d:/)% grep umount /etc/init.d/iw.server
(-d:/)%
nipper
looks like that is in iwmount
do a grep umount on any file named iwmount in either /etc/init.d or $iwhome/private/bin

i'm currently rebooting -play server- and will see what happens then
how would i do this?
do a grep umount on any file named iwmount in either /etc/init.d or $iwhome/private/bin
marcussteiner
i know i should not do this but the fu/%/%/)/)/(&%%§%§%$§ing box is back.
and ts is running.
thanks for the help
