Handling of multiple wmv files

Dear all,
we are facing issues with handling (insertion / retrieval) of multiple wmv files. The system is not processing the assets and the jobs stay in the queue. Didybody experience similar issues?

By the way: We are running 4.5.3 on Windows Server 2000 and Windows Server 2003 in a cluster mode, having a Microsoft SQL Server 2000

Do you have WIndows Media Player and DirectX installed? Do those files play standalone outside MediaBin?

To clarify the excellent advice above, MediaBin uses the Microsoft DirectShow framework which is the same framework used by Windows Media Player. It is imjportant to note that the machine to test on is the MediaBin application server as Microsoft allows people to register different codecs to extend the capabilities of a machine, and once registered both Media Player and MediaBin get "smarter".

We have had people experience hung jobs with wmv files, but in all the cases I can think of the issue was resolved by downloading the latest DirectX patches from Microsoft.
