Extract field information from dcr

Hi,
I am trying to generate custom reports without using TeamSite ReportCenter.
For this I have configured teamsite EventSubsytem and I am making use of of 'iwat' CLT and custom scripts to capture these events in Oracle.
My problem is that I have to generate reports based on content in DCR,like the information in DCR before and after it is modified.I would like help on how I can extract this information from DCR and store it in a SQL table,when a particular event like 'Modify' occurs.
Currently whatever event data is getting logged in tables is through perl code.Please provide me pointers to do the same for data in DCR.This is urgently needed.

Hmm - interesting idea - I believe DCTs provide the ability to access the field's oldValue - as such you might be able to use a callServer() script to execute onClose and run through all the fields and compare the current field values with the corresponding original values and push that information to your DB from the callServer script. However, since the callServer script runs asynchronously - you'd probably have to make sure it doesn't return 'true' to close the window before you've collected all the data (you could probably do the callback prior to pushing the data to the DB though).

The other alternative would be to somehow create a submit trigger script that compares the contents of the DCR that was just submitted and compares it against the previous version (if one exists) of the same DCR - XML parsing would probably be the best way to handle that since you cannot be assured of the formatting of the DCR and you might or might not be interested in capturing format changes within a textarea.
