value-from-callout usage?

I'm wondering if anyone is using the value-from-callout feature of DataDeploy and if so, how? It appears in the DTD although I can't seem to find any documentation on it whatsoever.

It's used with the IWExternalDataSource feature. Check out that section in the DD admin guide. It's mentioned briefly.

We are using it to grab sequence numbers from a common sequence table. Newer versions of OD provide some sample Java classes that implement the IWExternalDataSource interface. Also, there is some brief coverage of the topic in the DataDeploy admin manual (page 152 for version 6.1).

Do you need to know something specific?
