InterWoven Serach failing to create Index

I have installed and configured Search and indexed one branch with default settings. It went off fine. Later I added a template field in FieldMapping.xml. To make effect of this, I purged the previous index and restarted the IndexServer. The server is starting properly, but it could not index the branch and the following is the snippet of the log file generated.

I could not understand what permission is denied like permission for creating index or logs or something else. Can anybody help me out.

The error is coming beacuse the permission for creating the temporary BIF (Bulk Insert Files) for the verity is failing. These files are in the SEARCH_INTALL/temp/bif folder and are automatically deleted once used.

Please check for the some permission restriction on this temp folder. You can delete (rename) the old BIF folder after stopping the search services. Delete the old indexes and try to reindex. I think this should work Smiley Happy

One more thing, U can check for the following parameter in the
search.private.properties

This SHOULD be false, other wise these temp files keep on growing and u will run out of space. As your's is new install, less chanches of this being the cause of error but just verify.

Thank you very much. In fact, this problem was coming while working from the console, i.e. command prompt. Later, I tried to work on Command Shell of WebMin. There I could work fine, without any issue.

Hi,

We are facing an issue on our prod teamsite server.

Server - TS 6.7.1 (unix)

We have workarea mod.indexing enabled on 1 of our branches.

If I modify a file, indexer picks it up in 2 min and shows up in results.
However if we submit it to STAGING, stops coming up in search results.

Any clues?

Do you have the eventSubsystem enabled to notify the indexer about the new file submitted ? If not use the refreshbr CLT to get the change reflected in the indexes.

Event Subsystem is running fine. The results DO comeup when we run 'iwndxrefreshbr -i $branch' incremental updates.

But question still remains unanswered, why are the Submits to Staging are not picked up by Indexer?Due to it, file does not appear neither in wa/staging.

what is the DB being used and can you please verify from the indexer logs in the debug mode that the event is being received in time.

submit event is not picked up unless I explicitly run cmd 'iwndxrefreshbr -i br' as I said earlier.

We have same situation.

Incremental updates are not being picked up by the index manager.

We did have incremental updates working a few months ago when we were using the Derby database supplied with TS 6.7.1 SP1. However, following a clean install of TS and a reconfiguration of Search to turn incremental updates turned off, we set up the event subsystem to use an Oracle database. This appears to be working as we can see the messages table in the Oracle database being populated with event data.

Having reconfigured search for incremental updates (setting iw.index.events.enable=true) I expected the incremental updates to resume but they have not.

One thing I should maybe point out - we have TeamSite running on Solaris and Search (index and search managers) running on separate windows server.

Turning debug on reveals that the events are being picked up but not being actioned:
