Can LiveSite content XMLs (in turn the LiveSite component) have nested replicants?

I am trying to create a 2 level navigation component using LiveSite which mandates the use of nested replicants.

Also, Is there a way to control the number of replicants the user can create? Is there a funda of min, max attributes in the component XML just like what the TeamSite content entry form provides?

Use a DCR to represent the navigation structure and then use a DCR datum in a LiveSite component to pull that into LiveSite.
