How to get the current version of browser through TPL file?

Please can anyone help me for finding the current version of the Internet Explorer the end user is using.

How to find the IE Version in the tpl file of template?
Is there any code from perl or any other related doc??

What i think, your TPL should be residing on server and it generates the HTML page which opens up in clients browser. It means you have to dump a javascript snippet in the generated page through your TPL which checks what is the browser name and version in use.

Still, if you need any other helpful information, please make your post more elaborative.

I don't think this can be done. The tpl-file is 'executed' from within a executable (iwgen/iwregen) and thus has no relation to the browser. Teamsite uses this executable in the background itself as well. So unless the iwgen-command has a undocumented param to pass the browser-details this can not be done.

Then again, it makes me very curious why you want/need this?

What is the requirement to check the browser information in tpl? It should be done as javascript that too from the output file.

Actually i wanted to apply different CSS classes for different browsers....

For example, for IE5.5 few css classes and for IE6.0 some different css classes.

So using Javascript i got resolved that problem.

This has to be done at generated html (or what ever output you want) level and code is hard coded into your html output.

here is a sample code for you...
