Deployment of LiveSite sites
System
Hi,
We are deploying the Livesite Sites to tomcat server. In this regard we are using the OOTB Opendeploy configuration file LiveSite.xml. We have made few modifications in the LiveSite.xml for our own requirement. One such case is as shown below :

But when the sites are deployed it is observed that the owner for the deployed files/pages is "root" and not as "andy" as desired.
So please let us know if anything can be done to solve this issue.
Thanks !

I couldn't read your last message.
You need to surround all HTML/XML blocks with <xmp> </xmp> to ensure that it displays properly.

This is an HTML/XML element:
<permissionRules group="other" user="andy" directory="0755"/>

Hi Vani,
I edited your post so that your code was displaying. You can select the wysiwig editor in the control panel in forums. After doing that, then when pasting xml or html, just select the "<>" option at the top of the page to wrap your code so that it displays.
I hope this helps,
Heather

you should post on the OpenDeploy Forums since this is an opendeploy issue.

Hi,
Thanks for you inputs..
But still i could not find any solution for the problem/issue iam facing. I don't know whether this is the way Livesite is configured to deploy the sites & .pages with the "root" as owner always.
I have configured Opendeploy correctly. One more observation i found was all non-livesite files (images, css, js etc) are deployed correctly with the same owner as set in the OD Config file. But only for the sites & .pages it is always the "root" as owner. And the other observation is all the sites are deployed to /LiveSite/enduser/web/WEB-INF folder. But the non-livesite files are deployed to doc root itself (/LiveSite/enduser/web) as specified in the OD config file.
Please let us know if this is an issue or the way sites are configured to deploy...
Thanks !

The version of livesite your are running (2.1?) deploys sites and pages into the web-inf folder. they get copied there as part of the post deployment. The runtime is coping these from within the runtime webapp.
is your tomcat instance running as root?

Hi tec_iwov,
Yes the tomcat instance is running as root. The Livesite version is 2.1 and TS version is 6.5 SP1 on Solaris Box.
Please let me know is there any thing else i have to configure to change the owner (not as root) for .pages/sites.
Thanks!

code within the tomcat instance is copying these files so the only work around for ther version of Livesite your using is by chaning the user running the tomcat instance.
in new releases we no longer do this double copy and your OD setting will work as excpected.
