Dynamic Promo Component

Hi All,
env:
LS2.1/TS 6.5
here is what I need to do,
Basically I have replicants in my promo component.I need an ability to view the items configured in each replicant on the site page.So I will have,Buttons linking to each promo content item.Clicking on each button will allow me to view the content item.
Few possible option :
1) create a link to see all the promo items configured in a popup
2) enable user to cycle through each item via a 'view next' button
3) create individual buttons for each promo item

we see # 2 and 3 might create performance issues..
any comments about which option sounds good..
any idea if newer version of Livesite promises for performance ?

I'm not sure I understand what you are trying to do, but I will try to offer some suggestions anyway.

Using a set of replicants within a component to render a set of links on a page (or buttons, if you like) is a pretty typical use case and shouldn't have any performance options (this is your option #3). You can probably do this without writing any Java or Javascript code (pure XSL solution). If you want all the promo items to appear in a single pop-up (#1) or in a series of pages that are cycled through (#2), this is somewhat more complex.

For #1, you could probably use AJAX to do this without much trouble. The component would initially render itself as a link, which when clicked, makes an AJAX call back to the component. The data returned by that AJAX call would get displayed in a pop-up.

For #2, you would need to make your component display only a single replicant entry, selected by query parameter. It would have a link to the same page, with the query parameter specifying the next entry.
