itemref and DataDeploy

I am using itemrefs in my DCT to create recursive elements within a DCR. How do I deploy this data? Is there a special syntax for the schema that will tell DataDeploy that it is recursive?

I am using TS6.5 and OpenDeploy 6.0.2
