Modified by SYSTEM

Hi,

We have an external task that update the dcr file.
This operation set automatically the property "modified by" in "SYSTEM". There is a way in windows to set the properties "modified by"?

Could you please check as if there is any owner at the time of running of that task? On windows platform, it takes SYSTEM and on Solaris it uses IWUI as bt default owner of external scripts.

I have a similar problem, for some reason when someone submits file which they have modified throught he workflow it goes through fine, but some how the file shows as "Modified By" me in the teamsite, even though i haven't even touched the file.

Please advice.

Well i have the submit.cfg configured to only one branch. I didn't include the specifics of t he other branch which is causing problems at all.

Moreover is there a log which specifies where and when the change occured on the "Modified By"

I have checked the versions, and it specifies the time and date, but at that particular time or date, i haven't even touched the file. I some how need to get to the root of why this happened.

All submits from the GUI go through a workflow.
Most submit workflows use a submittask.
Someone has to be listed as the owner of the submittask - for author-initiated workflows it is usually set to be the 'areaowner' - so if you own the workarea then you will, I believe, be attributed as the person who last modified the file because you are essentially the person who is submitting the modified file.

Windows, however, is known for not having seteuid functionality - so it is also possible for the server process (generally run as SYSTEM) to be considered the one who performed the actual submit operation, and thus SYSTEM may be marked as the person who last modified it.

There are likely other possible causes - but I believe the above two cover about 95% of the situations.
