Templating structure

Can anyone update me on the feature whether it has been added or still pending? Can we define our templating structure as category/sub-category/data-type or it is still as category/data-type ??

To the best of my knowledge (and I'll admit I haven't spent too much time looking at templating in 6.7.1) the category/data-type structure is still the required structure.
