Footer update on autoversioning?

Good day,

I have a client who has auto-versioning enabled client-side. I'm currently updating the footer when the document opens.

When I do the same for document close, it prompts them to save again... and then creates another new version.

Is there anyway I can update the footer for them when the pld version closes and the new version briefly opens and closes on screen?
