auto generate content

I trying to build a simple workflow which can auto generate the content file.

The task is as following:
1.) User Task: Submit DCR (Start)
2.) External Task: generate content
3.) End

The following data was captured in the DCT:
1.) ContentID - unique id key, which is also the content filename.
2.) Location - location where the content will be generated.

Based on those 2 values, I assume that I can use a CGI script auto generate the content file "$Location/$ContentID.html" using the presentation Template "generate.tpl".

However I have tried using the CGI script "iw-home/local/wft/solution/iwtask_generate.ipl", but it didn't generate anything. 1.) and the iwjoberrors.log it shows:
[Mon Nov 27 15:56:49 2006] Could not run for task 823; retrying in 1 minute
2.) and the iwtrace.log shows:
ERROR: CreateProcess failure - 2

Actually i not sure what is the iwtask_genfiles.ipl do...
anyhow, I have uploaded the files that I used in my scenario.

PS: I just want to get it work, please point out if you found any mistake/error. thanks!

I think TeamSite cannot find the perl script or there is a problem with it. I would run 'iwgetwfobj' from the command line and pass in the task number. In your case :-

iwgetwfobj 823

Then cut and paste the command attribute and add on the workflow id, task id, path id and file. Make sure you cut and paste the command exactly as you may have a spelling or path mistake.

Eg / iw-home/local/wft/solution/iwtask_generate.ipl 821 823 /default/main/test templatedata/test/lee/data/test

a quick question before you proceed any further - have you managed to generated any files from a DCR manually- i.e. from the form?

the DCR was generated through the DCT, and the user initiate the workflow by selecting the DCR and click on Action -> New Job.

do you mean I Save the DCR? or generate the Content file? as my understanding, there is no "generate DCR", so can I assume that you mean "saving the DCR"?

answer is yup, I manage to save the DCR.

then I go to "generate" the content:

First of all - please be consistant with your descriptions / explanations - you start off talking about an externaltask then you ask about a CGI script - you are, in your WFT, actually using an externaltask (which I believe is correct in this case) so it's a not a CGI script, just a script.

Secondly - the error you are seeing is from the line hightlighted below:

I think it's pretty obvious you lifted this line from somewhere else - I suggest you change it to just:

    <successorset description="Success"/>
...

as an externaltask's successorset descriptions are not presented to the user - the concept of trying to localize them is meaningless here - so it's not even worth getting into how to do it.

Also - as was previously explained - it should be __INSERT__($gen_cmd) not __TAG__(gen_cmd)

Try making those changes and you should get further - perhaps even succeed.

For starters - you have:

I don't believe you want single quote (or any quotes) surrounding the call to is_valid_author() and you call get_names_from_file but that subroutine is undefined because you haven't imported it from TeamSite::Usertask.

Also - I'm not positive - but I believe all occurrences of:

__VALUE__(job_name);

and

"__VALUE__(description);"

should be:

__VALUE__('job_name');

and

"__VALUE__('description');"

Try fixing the above and see if you get any further.

thanks for spending time to look into the code, however I have made the changes according your advise, but I encounter this problem:

it says "invalid workflow", missmatched tag at line 30... but I got one qustion, when it tell me line 30, is that the actual line 30 in the *.wft file? or should count from whatever come after tag? did the empty line count in?

Are you sure you made the change you're showing?
Are you sure your attempting to run this workflow?
(I've been in situations before where I have a copy of a wft or a script, that I edit and don't see the expected changed results because I was working on a copy and didn't actually modify the file that was being used)

Have you tried enabling workflow debugging (see the manual and/or the workflow tutorial supplement available on this site for more details if you don't know what this is)?
If so - it would be helpful to see the generated job description file from the workflow you are attempting to run - because, as posted, the code is pretty simple and I don't see anywhere else that you could be getting a mismatched tag error from.
