Name with a special character causes deployment to fail
corykim
Hi.
Within a workarea, I've named a page "PRIMAL™ test1". Notice the TM special character. Unfortunately, when I run an OpenDeploy deployment (using areaDiff), the deployment fails.
LIB: 2006-11-28 11:49:06 Process writing Ext Attr for file:[\\IWOV-STACK\default\main\projects\companyA\EDITION\Synch-Nov282006-11494\sites\wcm\PRIMALâ„¢ test1.page] done.
LIB: 2006-11-28 11:49:06 ERROR: deploy-failed.
LIB: 2006-11-28 11:49:06 Receiver-ERROR: ERROR: Could not get file(y:\default\main\projects\companyA\workarea\company-01\sites\wcm\PRIMALâ„¢ test1.page.iwnew).
.
LIB: 2006-11-28 11:49:06 ERROR: Failed to deploy local_directory[0]: .
LIB: 2006-11-28 11:49:06 ERROR: Failed 1 directories
I can get the deployment to work if I delete that page. So I know the error has to do with the special character.
Any help is appreciated.

This should give you a good indication that using special characters in the file name is a bad idea.
Whether you can actually get OD to deploy it, I do not know. But even if you do, you will have other problems (or people viewing your site will).

If it were up to me, I wouldn't use special characters in the name. Unfortunately the client uses it and therefore I need to find a fix.
Any help is appreciated.

Then you need to ask support. I do not know that this is even supported. Learn to say no to the clients. You are asking for many headaches from this.
