Using Teamsite Search 2.0 with Teamsite 6.5 - SP2?

We are using TS 6.5 - SP2 and would like to be able to search the Workareas (ala TS Search 2.0). Has anyone tried using TS 6.5 - SP2 with TS Search 2.0?

I though this is compatable only with TeamSite 6.7

Seach 2.0 which has the WorkArea indexing feature supports only TeamSite 6.7 and NOT the previous TS versions.
Accordingly if the TeamSite is 6.7, it cannot be used with the older search version.

I strongly suggest not to try/go for such workarounds as you never know when you will land up in errors at some later stage which might be very difficult/impossible to rectify.
