Getting Job Completion Status

Hi ,

Using TS 6.5 Win 2003 SP1.

I am creating a WF .

If the WF is still in progress then the initiator or creator can see the WF Job in his Job List screen .

The Job is removed from the job list of the initiator or creator once the workflow has ended .

How will the creator or initiator of WF will know that his Job has completed .

I am not using e-mails in my WF .

Could anyone tell me how we can maintain the record of job that has completed ?

There is no such method or CLT available to find out the status of a completed job.

I suggest you to use mails to intimate the concerened users about the completion of the job.

Is there some reason why you cannot use e-mail notification in your workflow? Or is it just that you did not implement any?

The other alternative is to have something like an externaltask, prior to the endtask, which runs a script that pushes some data about the job into either a flat-file or DB - which the users can query (either directly or via yet-another-customization) to find out that their job completed.

However - if you go the second route, it's possible to have a job terminated un-gracefully (from the CLT iwrmjob, or via the GUI if you are the job owner or a TS Master) such that the information would never get written out. The CLT you could wrap with another script to try to capture that information, the GUI I'm not sure what you could do other than, possibly, removing that option via the UI customization procedures (I haven't tried, not sure whether it's possible).
