WorksiteMP and Kofax Ascent Capture?

Some time ago, one of our university departments had a requirement for scanning documents into Worksite MP. At the time, Interwoven recommended Kofax Ascent Capture as the recommended solution. We've had many problems with the release script provided by Interwoven for use with Kofax Ascent Capture - the Kofax software works fine, but we run into difficulties when trying to release into Worksite. I'd be interested to find out what other people are using.

Are any of you using Kofax Ascent Capture with Worksite MP? Or, if not, what are you using for scanning?

We have seen success with this in high volume scanning environments but have found several issues with the release script. The two examples that come to mind are issues with floating numbers, and a need for a property name on a document to match the metadata table name in order to add metadata values to that property document. Both will likely display an error saying the release script needs to be reinstalled. If you have any error logs let me know and I'll see if I can help. What version of the release script and Kofax are you using?

We're having issues with various things, which we're working with support to get sorted out. I wasn't looking for answers to specific issues. It was more of a general question - it's hard to believe that the problems we're having are specific to us; I was just wondering if anyone at all uses this.

And, for people who are scanning things into worksite but using something else, well, what else?

Where are you located? We've asked Interwoven a number of times for a list of organizations using WorksiteMP with Kofax, and so far have gotten the name of one company in Holland.

FWIW, we're using Kofax 7.0 with WorksiteMP 4.1 HFB7, and whatever the most recent version of the release script is.

We're located in NJ, and have clients using the release script. There are some other tools for getting documents into Worksite MP like Ricoh's Global Scan, or Omtool's AccuRoute. We do typically recommend using Kofax for high volume, batch scanning, and have been able to work around the flaws in the release script to have a working production solution.

Right now there are 2 companies in Holland that are using a Kofax release script to import scans into Worksite MP, but both are using a custom script.

Another way to get your scans into Worksite MP is the eCopy connector.

What are the companies?
Why use a custom release script? Are you trying to do something that isn't possible with the default one? And who wrote - did you, Interwoven, or someone else?

Hi Rach,

The eCopy connector connects eCopy's ShareScan OP product to Worksite MP (4.1), thus creating the ability to scan paper documents directly into wsmp. Just google for ecopy and "worksite mp" and you'll get plenty of information on that.

The companies are using the custom script (we created based on Interwoven code) because:
- there was no STK when they started using that (we're talking 3.1) and/or
- it integrates with other applications (for example pdf-signing) and/or
- it starts a workflow and/or
- it uses metadata-values to decide where the docs should be stored.
