callout from javascript

I am calling a perl module from a java script.The pm makes use of an html form that makes calls to a js function that sets the values of the fields in the dct of the corresponding java script that calls the perl module.
Is there any way by which a seprate window will not be opened on calling of the perl and the same functionality is implented.
