OpenDeploy 6.1.1 now available
System
OpenDeploy 6.1.1 is a feature release that provides bug fixes, feature enhancements, and new adapters.
New Adapters
------------
Microsoft adapters: New delivery adapters for Microsoft environments include the following:
-Internet Information Services (IIS): IIS adapter applies settings to an IIS 6.0 server and can also create virtual directories and websites.
-MSI: MSI adapter installs Microsoft MSI Windows installer packages onto remote Windows servers. The adapter can perform installations, updates or un-installations of .msi packages.
-COM+ (updated) adapter: COM+ adapter for installing COM+ applications into the COM+ catalog. The COM+ adapter is a revision to the previous version of the adapter that provides additional capability around DLL introspection to automatically identify and install components within the appropriate COM+ application.
-SQL adapter: SQL delivery adapter executes deployed SQL scripts on a database server.
-BEA portal configuration adapters: Complementary payload and delivery adapters for BEA portal server 9, allows export and import of portal XML configurations.
-StarTeam adapter: StarTeam payload adapter supports extraction of files from Borland’s StarTeam code management system.
* Please refer to the release notes for complete adapter compatibility details.
Other Enhancements
------------------
This release includes the following OpenDeploy feature enhancements:
-Directory deploy exclusion: It is now possible turn off deployment of sub-directories and therefore only compare and deploy files at the root level of the specified source directory.
-TeamSite 6.7.1 support: OpenDeploy 6.1.1 is compatible with TeamSite 6.7.1 which includes support for the Linux platform.
-MIB Support – A MIB file is now included for SNMP monitoring.

Can the OpenDeploy(6.1) that is shipped with CH2.1 be upgraded to OD 6.1.1?

Paul,
Sorry for the delayed reply. The OD that ships with ControlHub is not upgradeable. There is a patch for OD 6.1 that can be applied to pick up important changes.

I dont know all the features of OD/I m a newbie to these technologies.
Can somebody please tell me whether the below scenario is possible.
We are in the planning phase of upgrading TeamSite 6.1 SP1 (Solaris 8) to TeamSite 6.7.1 (Linux). In the present system, we have a scenario where OD (in Solaris) can post content to Commerce server (again in Solaris).
Can the OD be configured in Linux so as to deploy contents to a Commerce server on a solaris box.
Any devnet thread/document/ppt that justifies such a scenario - deeply appreciated.
Thanks much.

i never tested it, but i think it is possible because if we can deploy b/w unix and windows, why not b/w solaris and linux? but i am sure there are things to be careful with such as case senstivity and other things... why dont you do a test? and let us know
?

We have already upgraded to 6.1.1 on linux and deploy successfully from Solaris to linux and vice versa. The only problem with 6.1.1 on linux is that the use of adapters causes a 100% cpu utilization and they all fail, due to a bug in the IBM JRE that ships with OpenDeploy. I alerted Interwoven Support to the issue back in December and am still waiting for a fix to be made. Also, DataDeploy is pretty buggy when used with TeamSite 6.7.1. Interwoven changed the way they do their remote procedure calls, but don't clean up the connections properly, resulting in our case of out of memory conditions and crashes.
If you don't need or use adapters or DataDeploy, you should be fine.
