WebDesk in 5.5

Is use of WebDesk UI still limited to Authors only in version 5.5? (is 5.5.1 released already now? I see docs for it?) or has it been extended to all roles? It isn't discussed as an enhancement in the 5.5 Release Notes

We have just installed 5.5.1 and WebDesk is still only for authors, maybe version 6!

We're running 5.0.1.

There is a way to use Webdesk for 'author' type activities while logged in as something higher. Try this:
Sign on to TeamSite at whatever level you want (E/A/M).
Open another browser window (you may close your TS window, but don't logoff)
go to: http://server/iw/webdesk/task (replace server with your servername)

You will end up in webdesk, with all the rights of the level you already signed on as, but you will be limited in functionality unless you add the menu items manually in the iw.cfg file.
