Maximum file size for OpenDeploy

Hi,

Does anyone know if OpenDeploy can handle a 2GB file? I was also wondering if it can handle a file of a greater size, like 5GB, but I would be happy if I can get an answer for the 2GB.

I could test it out and see, but unfortunately, our Dev and Test boxes don't have this kind of size available for me to test.

Oh, by the way, we are using OD6.0.2. The files would be going from and to Windows servers.

i.e. some OS's can't handle a 2 GB file.

Also, depending on the type of deployment, OD could need room for 2 copies, old and new until the deployment is complete.

So yes a 2 GB file should not be an issue

I think, there have been no limitation on file size with OD
As far as you have sufficient memory on the target, this should work . Are you facing any issues? If you have not tried till now, just do a test deployment of your file with a small modification to test.xml deployment file.

Correction - you always need room for 2 copies (existing and .iwnew) but if you use transactional deployments you need room for 3 copies (existing, .iwold, and .iwnew)

This has a much more significant impact when you are deploying more than one file -- in non-transactional mode, each file will be brought over as file.iwnew - and then moved into place -- one-by-one. In transactional mode - all the files are brought over as .iwnew, and the existing files are copied to .iwold before the .iwnew files are put into place over the existing -- only when all the files have been successfully replaced with their .iwnew counterparts will the .iwold files be removed.
