Installing the MediaBin server in conjunction with an Oracle database

I am installing MediaBin Asset Server (4.5 SP 2) on Microsoft Windows Server™ 2003, Enterprise
Edition and Oracle 10g as database, running on Solaris .I want to “Configure the Oracle database for MediaBin”

I could not create a mapped drive on the Oracle server to our MediaBin server installation directory
because I am installing the MediaBin server and Oracle on separate computers, which runs on different OS’s.
Also the command prompt command “subst” will not work for mapping network drives.

I could not use “subst” because ‘am using network drives
I could not map the drive because my Oracle 10g running on Solaris

As per the MediaBin Asset Server Administration Guide
How do I execute the following steps?

1.Subst m: "c:\Program Files\MediaBin Server"
2.Run the installation script from the command prompt:
@m:\Oracle\CreateMediaBinObjects.sql

Should it mandatory to keep the drives mapped while installing MBPAdminConsole.exe?

The purpose of the subst is to avoid a limitation with Oracle scripting that does not like spaces in directory names (i.e., "Program Files").

We have certainly seen implementations with the database hosted on a Solaris machine. In this case it is only the client tools that need to be run remotely (i.e., from the Windows box) and therefore none of what is described needs to be hosted on your Solaris box so long as the ODBC entry points to that database.
