Trying to install 4.1 on Win2k3 -- "invalid license"

I'm trying to install MT 4.1 on a Win2k3 virtual machine. I retrieved a license and placed it in conf/license.cfg but when I try to run iwmtadminserver start, it tells me that I have an invalid license.

It's been years since I've worked with MT so I apologize in advance for any neophyte things that may escape me -- FULL DISCLOSURE! Smiley Happy

Anything in the logs ?

I assume you used the virtual systems MAC ID and not the true MAC. I am running a VMWare 2K instance of 6.7.1 and MT 4.1 without any issues (besides performance) Smiley Very Happy

The log reads:

1 1166043874: [main.cpp.82] LICENSE ERROR: Invalid license key. The software is not properly licensed. Please contact Interwoven customer support.

I got the virtual machine's MAC ID by going into the VM's command prompt and doing a ipconfig /all and I also ran mtlicenseinfo.

Any ideas?

Dave - You'll want to open a support case and send the mtlicenseinfo output and the license you generated. MT is supported on VM's.

Even I run MT 4.1 on my VMWare. I generated license based on the virutal m/c MAC ID. I don't see any issues. Probably check your virtual MAC ID and regenerate the license.

I have the same problem. Get the same error, on VM. I use mtlicenseinfo and put that macid in the license generator. I put license.cfg in the /conf folder, and I get that error.

please make sure you have not edited the license file in a text editor. Extraneous CR and/or LF characters can create problems.
