Simple CGI

I am on TS6.5SP2 on Win2k. I am not suing a DCT or anything for that matter, i am just running a CGI as my command running tool, for i cannot access the TeamSite box and runt he commands form the CLT.

So i can run pretty much antyhing from anywhere, so all i am trying here is to run a perlscript from the Y-drive location as shown in snippet, well it doesn't recognize the path for the entire Y-drive. Do anyone piint me where i am going wrong?

I have a similar tool running on another installation for the very same reason.

Have you tried swapping out the forward slashes for double backslashes? When you say that it doesn't recognize the ylocation variable, what are you seeing, exactly?

ooh its the same command thingy..

like try running this command from your iw-bin directory.

C:\Interwoven\TeamSite\httpd\iw-bin> Y:\default\main\branch\WORKAREA\Web C:/Interwoven/TeamSite/iw-perl/bin/iwperl.exe FtpUnzip.ipl

This will give u error saying

Y:\default\main\branch\WORKAREA\Web is not a recognized internal or external command.

If i open CGI from browser, it gives me the same error.

You should first print the HTML header information before you run the command, as the command will print errors or output to the STDOUT which is sent to browser. So this will result in a bad HTML content header.

Something is amiss in your command. It should be something like:

command /c iwperl command.ipl ylocation

Of course, I see now -- you're doing a "cmd /c" and are trying to run your directory as the command. Do you see the problem with this? Your syntax should look something like the following:

cmd /c [something executable]

So, you're trying to basically execute your Y:\default\main\branch\WORKAREA\Web and this is what Windows is complaining about. It's just a directory, it's not something that's executable. The way I do it, since I know that I'm the only one who has permissions to it, is I provide any arbitrary command in my text field and then the form, when submitted, carries it out:

my $cmd = $cgi->param('cmd');
my $result = `$cmd 2>&1`;

... for instance.

yes dave you are correct too. Here i want my system to execute a command from the Y-drive location i specify. Even though the CGi recides in iw-bin.

I want my command to execute in Y-drive and in the directory specified by me.

I suggest changing the directory using Perl, not Windows. You can do this with:

use File::chdir;

chdir('[directory]')

... and then execute your command.

Can you pass the path as a parameter ? Something like:

command.exe /c iwperl scipt.ipl -pwd ylocation [other parameters]

Put the complete path for FtpUnzip in the command. I assume it is not in Y:\\default\\main\\NECELAM\\WORKAREA\\Web\\TestFolder

If it's anything like the interactive command prompt, you need to change drives explicitly before trying to change directories within a drive - so Try:

Instead of playing with CWD (I have never use it so I have no idea), why not just pass the path as a parameter and use fully qualified paths in the CGI ?
