Patching best practices

Should we be applying every patch to the MediaBin server as they are released by Interwoven or not? I see a bunch of little, small patches that have been released since 4.5.3 came out.

Based on past experience with Interwoven products it is generally not a good idea to be the first to use these patches. Should we use the same caution here?

We had a case where a patch applied for a specifc functionality broke another. IMO, patches are better when released as a service pack. But at times, if the issue is serious then apply the patch but make sure to test out that all your major functionaalities are still working.

Patches are almost always specific to a certain format or class of images. The descriptions should indicate whether they represent a general problem, or whether they affect a small subset of users.

That being said, occasionally patches are to fend off problems that corrupt the wasy assets are stored and therefore not patching them can lead to unpredictability even if one is not directly seeing the problem being addresses. In short, if in any doubt please drop a note to support and get a full explanation.
