4.5.3 Coding for Pagination

Hey All,

I'm working on a custom search interface for our web site.

Does mbin api or mbpnetmodel have some kind of pagination feature in the code level? Do I write all of that myself, I can't seem to find it in the api documentation? Any sample or reusable code anyone would care to share?

The script model API has all the stuff you need for pagination, not sure about other APIs. We had a complete website built based on mediabin using ASP/vbscript.

If you're interested in the COM API, look at the MBObjectCollection object. Also look at the MBSearchCriteria object. Version 4.5.3 only does pagination for search results. 4.6 extends the exact same pagination model to browsing folders and assets.
The MBObjectCollection's IsPaginated method will return true if there is pagination support for that result set. If you want to do pagination of folders and assets independent of one another, virtually all the work is done for you. However, if you notice, the MB web client is merging two collections together (folders and asssets), so the MB web client is a bit complicated. You can see much of it, as Srinivas stated, starting from Items.asp. The code in classes\ItemsPaging.cls is script used to merge the folders and assets collections together to make it look like one monolithic paginated collection (really it is two). Hopefully you wouldn't need to do this.
When you make a call to do a search, you first set up your page size and your sort order. The results set (MBObjectCollection) will be paginated and contain the number of items specified per your page size. You can force the collection to load any other page by simply setting the Page property. The first page is always loaded after making your intial call to get search results. If you want to start out on a page other than the first one, you can initially set your page size to zero to inhibit loading, make your call to get Search results (which would return an empty, but paginated, collection), then change the page size and set the page you desire to have loaded.
I'm not sure how much of this carrys forward into the web services api. I work primarily on the C++ API, COM API, WEB Client, and Deployment Agent.
