OD admin 5.6 and OD base 6.1

Hello, in the process of upgrading from OD 5.6 to OD 6.1. i run in to situation where my base is 6.1 and it is working fine, and it deploys to another base which is 5.6 successfully. but my admin which is 5.6 is having problems manading the new base. i can see deployments coming from my new base and i can read the log files. but everytime i click to schedule a deployment or make changes in user access for the new base, it says "server is not available" even my server is up runing and deploying!

i am on w2k. any ideas what might be the problem? i thought that 5.6 and 6.1 work with eachother fine...

Does it have to go through a firewall ? IF so check if the server administration ports are blocked? 24071 is the default, set in deploy.cfg. Also check port 9173

well the admin5.6 was always managin my base that i upgraded from 5.6 to 6.1. unless there is a change in ports after the upgrade?

I believe the upgrade creates backups of your old configs do a compare on the files to check that anything custom was ported over. Also I would check the base server and admin logs for any errors (JIC) Otherwise are you planning on upgrading OD admin too ?

ohh i alreadyhave an admin that is 6.1 on seprate server.. and it works fine... it is just that had the 5.6 working before the upgrade and after i upgraded the base to 6.1 i noticed that the admin 5.6 can see deployments coming from the base 6.1 and can access the log.. but anytime i click on schedule or so, it says server not available... but i do have an admin 6.1 that i am using right now... my question was just out of curiousity because base 6.1 works fine with rcvr 5.6 and so on.. except admin 5.6 and base 6.1!
