/.iwmnt not mounted with clean install on 6.7.1/Linux

Step one of a migration from 5.5.2 on Solaris (!) to 6.7.1 on Linux. I already had a copy of a backing store copied to the new server. Since I wanted to put both the old store and the new store in the same disk area, I had the old store copied from /iwcontent to /iwcontent/old-store and then had the new store configured as /iwcontent/iw-store.

Problem is, trying to boot up Interwoven for the first time, it doesn't mount /.iwmnt, just /iwmnt.

Here's what I see in df -k

It may not be in 6.7.1, I booted up my instance of 6.7.1 on Linux and no /.iwmnt as well

I did not see anything in the docs, but you may try to peruse the release notes.

Confirmed by Interwoven support...only /iwmnt on Linux. Unfortunately, my predecessors preached the use of /.iwmnt, so I'm gonna have some cleanup work. Smiley Sad

it's this kind of incompatibility from one version / platform-variant to the next, that gets my heart pumping with frustration! :eek: :mad:

Normally, /.iwmnt is a non-cached mount, and /iwmnt is cached... For some reasons, /.iwmnt is ABSOLUTELY preferred (nay, mandatory) if you use the map_secondary_to_primary_gid feature. All our scripts use /.iwmnt

So is /iwmnt also cached mount on Linux then?

Luckily at least, we're not planning to move to Linux, but I was interested/curious to try it out for Development...

EDIT: btw, couldn't you just add a /.iwmnt mount yourself then? On solaris, it's just the normal mount command, and you can add mounts as many as you like (also to deeper points, like e.g. /iwserver/mystore/main/mybranch)

On Linux, /iwmnt mounts a native VFS filesystem. It is non-caching mount. Cached mounts are a feature of NFS. The Solaris version of TeamSite uses an NFS based filesystem, and hence it offers both caching and non-caching mounts.

If you need something called /.iwmnt, simply create a symlink to /iwmnt as Nipper suggested. Both will be non-caching mounts.
