We had a very similar error on our server and for us it was a bad hard drive. We replaced that section of the RAID array and then everything was fine.

Our environment was Windows 2003 Server Enterprise, SQL Server 2000.

i guess...you had to reinstall evrything again after you replace the hardisk.

Whoa, make sure to do some research before you take my words as gold. I don't know what kind of systems you have, if they are RAID or what but, make sure to run your disk management tools across your drives to check for problems.

Maybe your error could be something other than a bad drive or controller?

Just to verify what I am sure has already been guessed, all errors preceded by "ORA" as you might have expected are reported verbatim from what Oracle returns with no MediaBin intervention. The Oracle support site or numerous help forums are a good source of information as to the explanation for Oracle errors, although disk problems does seem to be a reasonable guess.

I have found in the past that googling on specific Oracle error codes tends to give a lot of answers.
