Sleep in case of <externaltask> email

HI

Using TS 6.5 Sol 5.8

We have a requirement in which in case there is some problem during the e-mail task ( external task ) , then e-mail script should be called again after some sleep time say 30 sec.

We donot want that iw e-mail script should call the e-mail function again and again without waiting for some time.

I know that we have in case of . But this will wait for sometime to let the to get inactivated , otherwise it will initiate the TASK provided.

Is there anyway to make the teamsite e-mail script (iw_solution_email.ipl) SLEEP for sometime & then execute it again from

Can anyone anwser one question : does the e-mail script that teamsite provided has the functionality of pooling again & again once the e-mail failed ?

No it does not. Only you (workflow designer) could possibly know what on earth "e-mail failed" means, how to find that out and what to do if it happens.
Please note that expressing your questions clearly is important. If you can’t be bothered to do that, we can’t be bothered to pay attention

email failures can occur for any number of reasons - some of them can be detected by the sender, but others cannot. Failure to send email is rarely considered a critical failure, but if you wish to do so you have several options - all of which require you to do some work.

I don't recall whether the iw_solution_email.ipl script has the ability to generate a different callback on detectable errors - if so, great - if not, you either have to make a copy of the script and add the logic to do so; use iwsend_mail.ipl (not as fancy in some regards, but does provide for optional error-handling callbacks); or write your own mail script.

If you use (or modify and use) iw_solution_email.ipl or iwsend_mail.ipl, you can define a callback for errors that transitions to an externaltask which records in a job variable how many times it's been called (to avoid endless loops) which will sleep for the specified amount of time and then transition back to the externaltask running the mail script (or to the next task after that or some other error-handling task if too many tries have failed).

If you write your own script - you can build in the looping on failure process into the script itself.
