selective get latest

Hi I wanted to know is there anyway to do a selective get latest?

example:
in a workarea I got:
htdocs/crmkb/attachments
htdocs/crmkb/contents
htdocs/crmkb/webapps
htdocs/crmkb/css
htdocs/crmkb/index.aspx

I want to get latest for the whole folder except for the attachments and contents folder.

if there anyway to do that in TeamSite?

TeamSite 6.5 run on Windows Server 2003 EE

get latest works recursive (it will impact the chosen item plus everything in it - if it's a folder).

So in your case, in the webUI, select the items you do want to getlatest:

htdocs/crmkb/webapps
htdocs/crmkb/css
htdocs/crmkb/index.aspx

and do Get Latest... Simple, no?

The reason I asking that is because sometimes if there is new file added to the htdocs/crmkb level, then we might not be able to see it in the workarea, by using that method to get latest might not be get the new file into the workarea.

The migration process in TeamSite was too manual, and our people always making mistake (as in they get latest for some files to workarea which are not suppose to appear in the workarea).

I am currently working on the batch script to do the auto code migration, and I am trying to avoid the conent being download to other workarea in the migration process. thats why I want to see is there anyway can prevent certain folder from get latest.

Actually my problem have not been solved yet.

I need to know is there any configuration in TeamSite I can made to "not get latest" for certain file and folder? If this functionality is not available, do you have any workaround to do that?

I am writting a script to automate the get latest process using CLT, thus the manual process can't fit my need.

Another problem is when I create a new WORKAREA, I have to get latest for everything into the new WORKAREA EXCEPT those contents had been published. So I need to exclude certein folder.

I haven't tried this myself, but maybe you can play with using the "private" mode for those files/folders. I know that it prevents a file (not sure whether it can apply to folders) from being submitted, so perhaps it also prevents it from being updated via GetLatest.

I've tried to enable the 'do not submit' properties on the folder.
I cannot submit that folder, but I still can submit the files inside the folder individualy.
then I tried to getLatest for that folder (marked with 'do not submit'), the files being uploaded just now are download into current workarea.

that means 'do not submit' doesn't solve my problem. Smiley Sad

This is clearly associated with your other thread - in which I responded and mentioned that trying to maintain different sets of files and directories in multiple workareas on the same branch was a bad idea -- I say so again. You are basically going to keep running into brick walls - and maybe eventually it will sink in - this is not how the system was designed to be used
