Getting selection box values in livesite

How is it possible to get selection box values in livesite component from database.
Could you please help me out ?

you can tie an external call to the Multi/Single select datums. I believe this is documented in the Component developers guide.

i have tried the external object, an example of which is given in livesite sales solution but its not working.
i am not able to save the component.......
if you have implemented the same please share the code. it would be a great help for me.........

what errors are you getting?

also what version of Livesite are you using?
