Passing files between tasks

Hi,

In my workflow i have created a external task and attached some files to it, the next successor task is a user task to which all the files are available which i attached to the external task.

I thought files attached to one task are not available to other task. Only files attached to workflow are available to all the tasks. Is my understanding wrong.?

Can someone please clarify?

Files attached to any Task are visible in subsequent tasks. Semantically, you attach Files to the whole Job.

There is no API (nor need for it) to attach Files to the single task. You have to remove Files yourself if you do
not want them visible any longer( RemoveFile Method of TeamSite::WFtask )

As already explained - files attached through a task object are attached to the job from which the task object was spawned.

The only place I believe that you can end up with different files associated with different tasks of a given job is when you have multiple concurrent process paths in the workflow and you attach files on tasks in the concurrent state - e.g.:

      /-> C1 -> D1 -> E1\
A -> B -> C2 -> D2 -> E2 -> F
      \-> C3 -> D3 -> E3/

A file attached to C1 may not be visible to tasks C2 through E2 nor C3 through E3 - but once the workflow transitions to task F, any files that were attached during the Cx through Ex process flow will now be visible to all tasks of the workflow from that point on.
