TS server capacity

TS 6.5 SP3
Windows 2000 SP4

We're looking into putting three MS SQL Server databases (TS Event SubSystem, TS Report Center, and another unrelated third-party search db) on one Windows 2000 server along with Crystal Enterprise (for TS Report Center), TS Search and TS Indexing. Does anyone know of any reason this would not work? Has anyone ever done anything like this?

Are you planning to have TS on this box as well ?

What is the size of the box ?

With everything it depends on how hard those apps are run. Is this production use ? How many users ?

IW recommends that the index and search be on a different server than TS. But I have run them on the same server often, DB as well. It all depends on the size of the computer and the load you have.

Also are you Win 2000 or 2003 ?

We're Win2000. These are all production servers. We have about 30-40 active users at any given time, with the potential to have up to 100 users at once.

TS is on server A.
Metatagger is on server B.
TS Search and Index are on server C. This server has an Intel XEON 3.2GHz processor and 4 GB RAM.
The three MS SQL Server dbs and Crystal Enterprise are on box D.

We're thinking of moving the stuff on server D onto server C.

We know we need to increase the CPU and RAM (java is consistently using a minimum of 50% of the CPU for search and indexing), and we're working with out internal IT group to identify how much we need. The unknown is whether or not these apps can play nice together.

They can play nicely together. I have a single DEV server with everything but Tagger. Got a handful of users.

With Search and index using 50% of a CPU already, that would make me nervous. Did you think of combining B and D ?

We hadn't considered combining B and D because B also handles front-end searchs via a third party app, and since it's working smoothly, we didn't want to mess with it. Thanks for the info - it was helpful.
