Confirming DB_HOME set properly
ShovelFace
Solaris 9
TS 6.5
MT 4.01
Logging into the server as root and doing an "env", DB_HOME not showing up (truth is that I am really logged in as a sudo user, impersonating root). How to confirm that DB_HOME is set properly? If not set, under which .profile should it be set?

IIRC, this is more for Windows where you can set the env variables as for the system.
Now any user that is using MT will need DB_HOME set if they use command line.
There used to be (may still be) a .profile that you could include in your .profile which set the appropriate variables (PATH, DB_HOME, LD_LIBRARY_PATH). Of course I do not remember the name of the file.
You may peruse the MT manuals.

on any UNIX, there is a file called /etc/defaultmthome which has the metatagger installation directory, /etc/init.d/iw.mtadminserver has enough logic to setup $DB_HOME,$PATH,$LD_LIBRARY_PATH and $MC_LOG_DIR from there.
For clients like, iwgenmetadata, iwmtdebug you can either execute a file called $DB_HOME/env-metatagger.sh.
or,
to make things easier, if you do login/logout, switch shells often, you can put expanded values from env-metatagger.sh in your .profile, .bash_profile in $HOME or roll it out system-wide by putting them in /etc/profile.
