New User Cannot Take Group Task

I am having trouble with a group task in the workflow for a new user.

We have a group task in the workflow that is owned by our approval group.

I have just added a new user (an editor) to the approval group, and when he goes to take ownership of the group task, he receives the "You do not have permission to work on this task" error message.

He has no problem editing or adding new content to the workarea involved in this issue. When someone else adds/edits content to the workarea and runs the workflow, he gets the email along with the rest of the members of the group.

Other members of this approval group have no problems with the workflow. I have triple-checked that all of his permissions match the permissions of the rest of his group.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Is this a pre-existing job (started before this user was added to the group) or a new job (started after the user was added to the group, and after an iwreset was performed - or at least 10 minutes after the user was added to the group)?

How is the sharedby element defined for the grouptask? Is it using the group name, or is it being set to a list of users found to be in the group (often done to remove the job initiator from the list of users who can review the work)?

If you do an iwgetwfobj of the taskid you should be able to see the defined sharedby elements.

It is a new job (created after he was added). It happens with every new job that goes to this approval group. He was added back a few weeks ago, and this has been happening since then, but he just reported it today.

The sharedby element is defined by the group name, and he's in the group.

Let's backtrack a bit here and re-start with some of the basic questions that you should have supplied answers for in your initial posting:

Have you tried using the show_user_list=true setting in your iw.cfg?
See page 80 of the TeamSite Administration Guide - Release 6.1 - Windows for more information.

At this point my guess would be that there's a typo somewhere - but I'm surprised any of it works in that case. I suggest you try the show_user_list piece, collect some data, and open a case with Support (if you don't figure out the problem yourself while collecting the data)
