Verity set up on the portal env
chrismc
Dear All,
We are planning to set up verity on our portal environment. We will be setting up verity on a separate machine and integrating this with Interwoven CMS 6.5 sp2 + solaris. This should have features like to search in the document, personliazed serach results, categorization if possible cloud Tags etc.
1. I am keen to know the normal set up efforts of Verity (Installation + set up)
2. Customizations as I mentioned above.
3. Integrations efforts between TS and Verity. I think this can be solved using datadeploy for the DB deployment of the keywords but any experienced inputs are welcome.
I know this heavily depends upon the person skills but if we take industry standards then how much efforts are required to go for the implementation of the Verity.
Thanks
Chris

Hi Chris,
we use also a veriy search engine in our portals.
Some things you should think about:
- k2server/k2broker design: how many k2servers or brokers do you want to have?
we use one k2server for one portal. if you have a lot of portals with low
search request frequency perhaps it's better to accumulate these into one k2server to reduce the number of your k2servers
- collection design: to design your verity collection (database) you should
think about additional metadata fields which are added to the document
information (keywords, author, TS DCT, and so on...)
- indexing: does your verity server have a direct HTTP access to your website to index your documents?
Are there some pages which are restricted and only viewable after login?
Do you want to add additional information which isn't available through a HTTP request?
In most of our cases we deploy the content into the filesystem of our verity server and index it there...
- metadata transfer to verity: do you have the possibility to add all the metadata
within your webpage directly (perhaps in a HTML meta tag)?
if not, perhaps it is better to write it into a additional metadata file and to deploy this
file to the verity server. (we use these two methods in two of our portals...)
Regards
Stefan
