Firefox 2.0 and Visual Formatter

I am running TeamSite 6.5 SP3 and am having trouble when I use Firefox 2.0.0.3. I am unable to edit a DCR. The DCR window opens but there are no fields or labels displayed, only the Finish and Cancel buttons at the bottom. Using InterNet Explorer (IE6), I am able to edit the DCR with no trouble. Should Firefox 2.0 work with this version?

Thread topic seems to show that you already know the culprit. Comment out all items with VFE and it
*should* work without it. Although latest Ektron's eWebEditPro works with FireFox the version that ships with TS 6.5
does not. Upon conversion to 6.7.1 you'll have an option of TinyMCE, if that's of any consolation.

IWOV TS Platform Compatibility document is a bit vague on Mozilla/FireFox distinction but in any case 2.0.0.x
platform is not officially supported.

Clearly only Firefox-1.5/1.6 is the supported version with TS-65SP3 ..

In TS 6.1 If we opened pages for editing in IE we would get the visual format editor, if we opened for editing in FF 2 it would open the text boxes as straight code.

This pleased the general users who use IE and the web/admin team who use Firefox and prefer to edit code.

I'm currently testing 6.7.1 and have come across the same issue as the original poster. Commenting out or removing the call to the VFE is not an option as this would also remove it from IE.

To minimize disruption to users we don't want to change from VFE at this time.

Has anyone come across a workable solution where you can use a template in both IE and FF if it has a call to VFE ?

After a bit of web searching I've come across a solution.
You need to have Firefox identify as version 1.5 or earlier for the templates to display. There is a User agent switcher extension that is available that will do the trick.

Ekton's ewebeditpro is the bit that does the user agent checking.

edit: Alternatively you can edit the ewep.js file on the server so that instead of looking for version 1.5 and below it is looking for say version 3.0 and below.

according to this page http://dev.ektron.com/kb_article.aspx?id=5834&terms=esker you can make it so that the editor will work in FF. I'm not sure how the interwoven install would like the updated ewep.js that calls the esker active x plugin. I'm quite happy without the plugin so am not going to try it.
