Single Vs Multiple Workarea

Hi,

Can anyone resolve this confusion regarding what should be the ideal structure with regards to workareas. Under what situation should there be single workarea and under what should be multiple.

Though what I have noticed it that most of the work can be accomplished using single workarea with Submit locking.

Any thoughts?

I think -

Submit locking is a better option in case of multiple workareas.
In case you want to set only one workarea you may want to chose
Optional Write Locking with
[iwserver]
only_lock_owner_creator_submits=yes|no
in the iw.cfg file

According to me it is more to do with the kind of people who would be using it. If you have programmers, graphs and content team working at the same time, it is better to keep different workareas for different type of profile.

I agree that with right kind of locking though same can be accomplished.

Sticking with one workarea will generally make your life and the life of content authors much simpler. No one will have to deal with get latest or iwupdate.

yes single workarea is always preferred than multiple workareas. Multiple workareas usually confuse the content editors and make their life bit difficult in terms of merging content etc from multiple workareas.

Multiple workareas can be a good option in development areas when multiple people working on same piece of code in single dev branch.
