InDesign/InCopy and K4

I am working with a publishing company that have an established process for their print content that uses Adobe InDesign/InCopy through a K4 workflow engine. Nearly all of the web content that will go into Interwoven has already been created/edited/approved in the print system and they want to shortcut loading the InDesign/InCopy files into DCTs to quickly push through the Interwoven workflow and onto the web site.

We were thinking about setting up a custom process for importing these files and extracting the relevant fields to autopopulate a DCT. Has anyone tried anything like this? Successes? Failures?

you meant 'autopopulate DCRs'?

I cannot see as to why this won't work. There could be a few options to consider, I mean architecturally - how to get the data, how to convert, whether one actually does need an interwoven workflow, etc. But this is definitely a doable process.

I myself actually like such implementations....
